How to update to AVG

Download the appropriate file for your school system type from http://www.iemsupport.com/avg.html. When you click the appropriate link and enter the user name and password, if given the option to run or save, click save. Once the file is downloaded, run the executable file. IMPORTANT: Your computer will probably restart during this process, and it may do so with only a short warning and no option to postpone the restart for later. So be sure you have closed out of any applications (i.e. FRED, Word, email) you may be working in before you begin.

If you aren’t sure whether to use the 32-bit or 64-bit version, follow these steps to find out:

If you are using Windows XP, you almost certainly need the 32-bit version. If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, you may be using the 32-bit OR 64-bit version.
To find out, in the Windows Start menu, first right click on Computer, and then select properties from the pop-up menu.

When the properties screen opens, see the system type as in the screen below.
